I was beginning to find that the hard disk in the site server (2550CDT) was beginning to die. Windows NT was reporting bad blocks on the disk. Also the hard disk was quite slow, so it was time for a speed boost, and also time to make it silent.
You need to open the whole thing by removing all the screws from the underside, and the two screws on the rear. Also lift the keyboard, where 3 or 4 more screws will be revealed to be removed.
The little gap by the pins in the hard disk bay allows you to stick a screwdriver down to align the compact flash card & adaptor to the header pins, while you push it in by putting your fingers in the opening.
